About

At the heart of The Swallowtails are two musicians drawn together by curiosity, connection, and a shared desire to be understood. Kansas City–based duo Miki P and Rachel Lovelace craft genre-bending songs that blend pastoral folk with baroque pop, pairing steady rhythmic guitar with heartfelt, melodic storytelling.

Formed in 2018, The Swallowtails have released two full-length albums—Right Where We Are (2020) and The World Still Spins (2023)—and a self-produced EP, Lucky Penny (2024), which marked a bold evolution into a fully collaborative songwriting partnership. NPR’s 90.9 The Bridge praised the EP as “a lovely confluence of pastoral folk and baroque pop.”

Voted Best Band of Kansas City by The Pitch Awards in 2024, the duo is preparing to release their third album, Perspective, in May 2026. This record represents their most expansive and intentional work to date; songs shaped both onstage and in community with their listeners.
